In Time    I’m a guy.  A musician/bartender guy.  Behind the bar pays the bills.  Otherwise I enjoy rocking my ass off whenever there’s a gig.  Like many of us I’m a reader, writer and blogger.

I love living in New York City because, generally, NYC accepts everyone without too much of a judgement call.  It’s like when I was an undergraduate at Mansfield University at Mansfield, PA.  I didn’t know quite where I fit in there until I found the Theatre department and they just accepted me based only on the fact that I showed interest in them, so they were digging me and I didn’t have to do anything but be.  So when I left my home town of Easton, PA where I could tell I was gonna have a difficult time fitting in and moved myself to New York then I could see that I could carve out a place for myself.

I’m an artist.  My function is to suck things in so I  can spit them out in my way.  I like to think that I have an interesting relationship with time.  I first realized this when I was introduced to Dean Moriarity in Kerouac’s On The Road .   Dean says to Sal Paradise, “We know time.”  That just went way in me  because to know time is to know that it never ends.  We never end.  There is some continuance somewhere.  Wherever that might be.  In this way knowing time allows me to relax, chill and not lose my mind over the way life is random in so many ways.  Actually being random and being able to dig that is why I feel that my relationship with time is more than just the usual.  Being close to time, being wrapped up in it instead of challenging it or attempting to step away from it I think allows for a more serene existance.  Especially if one has found the place to live that is accepting and can actually nurture the soul.

Besides my music I look forward to wrting more and more.  Writing my lyrics is a great challenge because they need to be poured over and mostly rewritten so many times to get to the bone of the matter.  Generally the stuff that pops out first is just guideposts that lead to the next idea or rhyme and then later the truer message is revealed.  Kind of like sculpting.  It’s in there somewhere.

I’m also way into promoting my band.  Tim Young Band.  Our new CD will be out early in 2008 and it’s called The Cost.  The mixes are beginning to sound like I want and  it will be such a relief when I’m finally able to share this new music with the rest of us…
